Skipping ahead

So Temple 81 and 82 are 284 meters and 358 meters, respectively, above sea level. I was not in the mood to try to walk up them yesterday. So I took the train into the city and went to Temple 83 while I waited for my accommodation to open.

By far the worst hotel. I had scheduled 2 nights there, I just left and booked another place for tonight. I’m only out $22, so it’s worth it. Usually the cheaper accommodations are wonderful. I’ve paid $18 the previous night and was happy with it. So far, there is only one bad hotel this whole trip…

Temple 83 – Ichinomiyaji. According to legend, this Temple was founded in 701-704, when a provincial shrine was built in each province.
