I am about 2 days behind on posts.
I got dropped off at Temple 78 – Gōshōji. Believed to have been started in the early 8th century, Kūkai came upon it and restored the dilapidated buildings. For a while, the temple prospered as a nenbutsu training site.
There was a stairway down, almost like a subway stop, but in a small cave were thousands of figures. Even though my back hurt and I was tired, I am happy to have found that underground room.
