It was about a 2 hour walk through the woods, up and down these mountains. With it raining the last few days, the trail was not in good shape, and there were signs to beware of wild pigs. Other posts I described as walking on dry creek beds. This one, I was walking through running creek beds.













Made it to Temple 82 – Negoroji. Kūkai was said to have stayed here before his visit to China. He built a grass hut and consecrated it as a sacred place.
There is a story from 400 years ago that a ushi-oni, or devil cow, tormented the local people. An archer, Yamada Kurando Takakiyo, was able to kill it, and there is a statue next to the main gate.
