After waking up at Nojima house, I walked to the train and made my way to the bottom of Temple 65 – Sankakuji. 351 meter up. About a 3.5-mile walk uphill.
The day was cold with on and off rain.

It started off paved and then turned into a path that was barely a trail at points. The tree canopy kept me fairly dry.
I ran into a man from Holland who I had met at 2 previous temples. He was walking the whole 88 and the additional 20. After meeting me on the trail, he blew by me and was walking twice as fast as I was. I saw what I could have been had I been healthy and 15 years younger. I wished him well and continued on.
Temple 65 was founded in the early 8th century. It is known as the triangle temple due to the triangular alter used by Kūkai to exterminate a troublesome ghost. The temple is used to ward off misfortune and have easy childbirth.

I walked down to my hotel, where I am currently having a rest day. Temple 66 was just too difficult to get to on a Sunday. I will go there tomorrow and head to the next 5 that are fairly close together.
