I left Kochi city during a rain storm and walked my way to the train station.
I am getting very good at navigating the public transit system here. Google Maps help, except when you are riding on the train or bus, then it just keeps updating new routes.
Temple 37 – Iwamotoji – was tucked away down an alley in a suburban town.
It was small but nice. In the main hall there are 575 pictures and paintings on the ceiling.

The rain had just barely stopped when I arrived. I still need to ask why all the statues have red hats and scarves.
I took a long bus ride down the coast and had a great driver. They pulled over at a scenic overlook and told me I would get good pictures there. (Only 2 of us on the bus, both Pilgrims).

Then I went onto Temple 28 – Kongōfukuji, right across the street from the ocean. This Temple, it is believed one can set off for the land of paradise.

This temple had a lot of water features and sea turtle statues.
I took my time here and walked around. It was one of my favorite temples so far. The clear sky and ocean air made it relaxing. I am happy when I don’t have to rush to get to the next location and I can take my time.
I stayed at a Henro (pilgrim) house and woke up early to start my next day.
